Helpful Information for hair removal professionals.

Before waxing you should consider the following precautions:

Test a small area of skin for sensitivity before starting any hair removal procedure

The FDA has issued recent warnings about resistant strains of Staph and some hair removal professionals feel
waxing exposes clients/users to unacceptable health risks. Sanitary preparation of the area is vital - as
in all procedures which can introduce invasive bacteria into the body and blood stream.
Waxing can leave the skin sore and open to infection.
The FDA also cautions that these products should not be used by people with diabetes and circulatory
problems who are particularly susceptible to infection. Waxes should not be used over varicose veins, moles or warts.
Also, waxes should not be used on the eyelashes, inside the nose or ears, on the nipples, or on irritated,
chapped, sunburned, inflamed or cut skin. Do not use waxes on recently tweezed areas.
Do not wax clients that have recent scar tissue, or other skin conditions.
Due to the side effects of increased sensitivity and irritation, it is not recommended that you wax
clients that are using Retin A, Accutane, Tetracycline, Glycolic Acid or Alpha Hydroxy products.
Do not use soaps or astringents for 2 hours after application. During the 24-hour period following a waxing service,
the client should avoid hot baths, tanning beds, saunas or other heat treatments.
Do not wax clients that have recent scar tissue, or other skin conditions.
To eliminate after wax redness, recommend that clients take an antacid 1-1/2 hours before the waxing procedure.
Be aware that during pregnancy clients can experience increased water retention.
